POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta<\/strong> \u2014 Ahead of the 2026 Christmas and New Year celebrations, various national poultry associations have ensured that the supply of chicken and eggs remains secure with stable prices. Collaboration between farmers, industry players, and the government is considered key to maintaining supply and price stability for national poultry commodities.<\/p>\n

Wayan Suadnyana, Deputy Secretary General of the National Poultry Farmers Organization (GOPAN), stated that he is optimistic chicken prices will remain stable until the end of the year. He emphasized that the recent price increases in the market are not related to supply issues, as chicken availability remains sufficient.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom June to September, chicken supply remained stable. So, the price increase has nothing to do with a shortage of supply,\u201d he said in Jakarta, Saturday (25\/10\/2025).<\/p>\n

According to Wayan, with farm-gate live bird prices ranging from Rp21,500\u201322,500 per kilogram and Day Old Chick (DOC) prices around Rp6,500\u20137,500, farmers\u2019 profits are still within a reasonable margin. \u201cFarmers\u2019 profits are still very reasonable at the moment. But often, certain actors manipulate market prices, causing them to rise,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n

He added that with those farm-level prices, fair retail prices should be in the range of Rp35,000 to Rp37,000 per kilogram. Wayan also dismissed the assumption that the increase in chicken prices was triggered by the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. \u201cThe MBG program operates under stable contract pricing, and its volume is relatively small compared to national production. So it cannot possibly cause price fluctuations,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

GOPAN assures that the balance between feed costs, DOC prices, and live bird prices remains well maintained thanks to cooperation among farmers, breeding companies, and the government. \u201cThis collaboration is essential to maintaining a healthy national poultry ecosystem,\u201d Wayan said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Poultry Community Association (Pinsar) also expressed its support for the government\u2019s efforts to stabilize broiler egg prices. Samhadi, Head of the Price Monitoring and Low-Cost Food Movement (GPM) Division of Pinsar Indonesia, stated that the association continues to collaborate with the government to keep poultry commodity prices affordable. \u201cWe consistently participate in every food price stabilization initiative. We hope chicken and egg prices remain accessible to all levels of society,\u201d Samhadi said in Jakarta, Sunday (26\/10\/2025).<\/p>\n

Currently, retail broiler egg prices range from Rp31,500\u201332,500 per kilogram, while farm-gate prices are at Rp26,000\u201328,000 per kilogram. Samhadi emphasized that these prices are still below the Government Reference Price (HAP). \u201cThe recent increase is still below the HAP, which is around Rp26,000 per kilogram at the farm level and under Rp30,000 at the consumer level,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

According to Samhadi, one of the main challenges in stabilizing egg prices is the high cost of feed, particularly corn. He hopes the government can accelerate corn distribution under the Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program so that feed prices can be better controlled. \u201cAround 50 percent of the feed ingredients for layer hens come from corn. If domestic corn supply is stable, farmers will find it easier to control the rate of egg price increases,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

From the poultry processing industry\u2019s perspective, Sigit Pambudi, Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Poultry Slaughterhouse Association (ARPHUIN), confirmed that the national chicken meat stock is safe through next year. \u201cConsumers have nothing to worry about; the poultry industry has prepared for domestic demand and even has the potential for surplus,\u201d he said in Jakarta, Saturday (25\/10\/2025).<\/p>\n

Sigit emphasized that ARPHUIN members are committed to supporting the government in maintaining market balance and will not immediately raise selling prices when live bird prices increase. \u201cMost of our clients use contract systems\u2014weekly, monthly, and some even quarterly. So price increases do not directly affect consumers,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Similarly, the Chairman of the Poultry Breeding Companies Association (GPPU), Achmad Dawami, stated that current chicken prices remain within a healthy range and align with the Government Reference Sales Price (HAP). \u201cThe current price conditions reflect natural market adjustments and remain within a healthy corridor. Our hope is that this stability continues through the end of the year and into early 2026,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Dawami emphasized that national chicken stocks remain safe and under control thanks to coordination among farmers, breeding companies, and the government. \u201cThe availability of live birds, feed, and DOC is well maintained. So the public does not need to worry as we approach the end of the year,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n

With strong synergy between farmer associations, the poultry industry, and the government, national chicken and egg supplies are expected to remain stable through early next year. The government is also encouraged to further strengthen cross-sector coordination to maintain balance in the national poultry ecosystem amid global food price fluctuations.
