The government continues to strengthen control over livestock feed ingredients as a strategic step to maintain national food price stability. Through cross\u2013stakeholder coordination, the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) ensures that policies governing plant-based feed ingredients are implemented in an orderly, measurable, and sustainable manner, without disrupting national livestock production. This policy is expected to help keep chicken meat and egg prices affordable for the public.<\/p>\n

Director General of Livestock and Animal Health at the Ministry of Agriculture, Agung Suganda, stated that the government has established a policy to transfer the implementation of imports of plant-based feed ingredients to state-owned enterprises (SOEs). Not all plant-based feed ingredients are included in this transfer\u2014only soybeans and their derivatives, including soybean meal (SBM). This policy is a follow-up to the President\u2019s directive on strengthening state control over strategic commodities that affect the livelihoods of many people.<\/p>\n

Along with the expansion of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program and the increase in poultry, dairy cattle, and beef cattle populations, imports of feed ingredients\u2014particularly SBM\u2014are projected to continue rising. Given the substantial volumes involved, the government views it as necessary to reorganize import authority, which was previously handled by the private sector, and fully transfer it to SOEs as a strategic national policy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe demand for feed raw materials, especially soybean meal, continues to increase in line with the growth of poultry and ruminant populations. Given the large scale of demand, the government considers it necessary to restructure import authority so that it is more coordinated and controlled,\u201d Agung explained on Tuesday (23\/12\/2025).<\/p>\n

He added that stabilizing domestic feed prices is also crucial to preventing the entry of low-priced imported poultry products that could disrupt the sustainability of the national poultry industry and threaten the livelihoods of millions of farmers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are committed to safeguarding the national poultry industry. The key lies in ensuring stable feed prices, maintaining production, and keeping chicken meat and egg prices reasonable for consumers,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Director of Operations of PT Berdikari, Mukhammad Agung Aulia, expressed the company\u2019s readiness to carry out the assignment of importing feed raw materials, including SBM and wheat, in accordance with national needs.<\/p>\n

He explained that PT Berdikari has coordinated with business players and related associations to map demand and ensure smooth supply during the policy transition period.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are implementing this assignment by prioritizing good governance principles, price control, and close coordination with business actors and farmers, including independent farmers, to ensure supply remains secure and does not trigger market volatility,\u201d said Agung Aulia.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Agriculture affirmed that it will continue to oversee the implementation of this policy through cross-sector coordination and ongoing dialogue with all stakeholders, in order to ensure the sustainability of the national livestock industry and protect the interests of farmers and consumers in realizing Indonesia Emas 2045.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
