POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta<\/strong> \u2013 The government has assured that the supply of chicken meat and eggs ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026<\/strong> is in a safe condition. This was emphasized during the National Religious Holiday (HBKN) Supply Security Coordination Meeting<\/strong> held by the Ministry of Agriculture together with various associations, business actors, and the National Police Food Task Force (Satgas Pangan Polri) in Jakarta on Thursday (January 22).<\/p>\n

Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman<\/strong> stressed that stocks of eggs and chicken meat are sufficient to meet public demand throughout Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. National poultry production is considered adequate and even in surplus, leaving no reason for shortages to occur.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cOur poultry production is sufficient, even surplus, so there is no reason for imports. Therefore, the public does not need to worry about the availability of eggs and chicken,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This statement was reinforced by Suwardi<\/strong>, Chairman of the Kendal Sejahtera Poultry Cooperative<\/strong>, who stated that current daily egg production has reached 18,000 tons<\/strong>. From a supply perspective, he believes conditions are very safe to face the fasting month and Eid.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the recent Christmas and New Year HBKN period, thank God prices were stable, with no worrying increases. Hopefully it will be the same during Ramadan and Eid. Our egg supply, God willing, is safe and even excessive, which is why prices sometimes decline.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Pol. Whisnu Hermawan<\/strong>, Head of the National Police Food Task Force, noted that chicken and eggs remain the most sensitive food commodities whenever major religious holidays approach. For decades, these two commodities have often triggered price volatility when supply is disrupted.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always the same issues. If it\u2019s not shallots, then milk, eggs, or chicken. This hasn\u2019t changed since the 1990s,\u201d said Whisnu.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Based on monitoring up to the third week of January 2026, national food stock availability remains in an optimistic condition. Several commodities, including animal protein, are projected to remain secure through the first semester of 2026, covering the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo ensure this stability, the National Police Food Task Force will conduct daily monitoring of the balance between supply and demand, including chicken and egg commodities, which typically experience increased consumption during the fasting month.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Supervision will be tightened from upstream to downstream, covering producers, distributors, and market traders. Law enforcement measures are prepared as a last resort should hoarding, distribution obstruction, or price speculation that disturbs the public be found.<\/p>\n

The meeting concluded with a statement from the Minister of Agriculture guaranteeing that supplies will remain safe throughout the fasting month and Eid. The government, together with the National Police Food Task Force, state-owned food enterprises, and all business actors, is committed to maintaining the availability of chicken and eggs so they remain affordable and easily accessible to the public during HBKN 2026.<\/p>\n

He also urged the public and business players not to hesitate to report any fraudulent practices encountered in the field, whether related to prices, distribution, or supply of food commodities, particularly eggs and chicken meat. The government will not tolerate any actions that harm small-scale farmers or consumers.
