POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta<\/strong> \u2014 The Producers Cooperative of the People\u2019s Economic Empowerment Institution (LPER)<\/strong> has officially entered into a partnership with Ayam Gepuk Pak Gembus<\/strong> to strengthen upstream\u2013downstream integration<\/strong> in the food sector. The collaboration was formalized through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS)<\/strong> on Friday (January 23) at the Ministry of Agriculture<\/strong>, Jakarta. The agreement was signed by H. Mulyadi Atma<\/strong>, Chairman of the LPER Producers Cooperative, and Rido Nurul Adityawan<\/strong>, Founder of Ayam Gepuk Pak Gembus.<\/h6>\n
This cooperation brings together a farmer cooperative as the upstream driver<\/strong> and a national culinary business player as the downstream anchor<\/strong>. The government views this partnership model as having strong potential to provide market certainty for smallholder poultry farmers<\/strong> while strengthening the national poultry supply chain<\/strong>.<\/h6>\n
The Director of Animal Breeding and Livestock Production<\/strong> at the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health Services (Ditjen PKH), Hary Suhada<\/strong>, who witnessed the signing, stated that the collaboration aligns with government policy to strengthen a partnership-based livestock ecosystem<\/strong>. According to Hary, the government seeks to ensure that farmers are not only producers, but also enjoy business certainty<\/strong>.<\/h6>\n

\u201cDitjen PKH continues to strengthen the role of farmers as key actors. One way is by facilitating upstream\u2013downstream partnerships so farmers gain business certainty, market access, and fairer added value,\u201d said Hary.<\/p>\n

In a separate statement, Agung Suganda<\/strong>, Director General of Livestock and Animal Health Services at the Ministry of Agriculture, emphasized that the government is promoting fair and equitable partnerships<\/strong> between farmers and business actors as part of efforts to strengthen national food security.<\/h6>\n

\u201cThe Ministry of Agriculture encourages mutually beneficial and fair partnerships. Farmers must receive market certainty and reasonable prices, while business players gain sustainable supply. Collaborations like this are in line with the Ministry\u2019s policy to strengthen the national poultry ecosystem,\u201d Agung stated.<\/p>\n

According to Agung, upstream\u2013downstream integration<\/strong> is key to maintaining the sustainability of farmers\u2019 businesses amid market volatility. He stressed the government\u2019s role as a facilitator<\/strong> to ensure partnerships are transparent and do not disadvantage farmers.<\/h6>\n

\u201cWe ensure that the state is present to protect farmers. Upstream\u2013downstream partnerships are not merely about business, but part of a broader effort to safeguard food security and sustainably improve farmer welfare,\u201d Agung added.<\/p>\n

The LPER Producers Cooperative<\/strong> represents thousands of independent layer and broiler farmers<\/strong> across various provinces. The cooperative focuses on strengthening farmer institutions, increasing production capacity, and developing a business ecosystem oriented toward member welfare<\/strong>.<\/h6>\n
\"\"Meanwhile, Ayam Gepuk Pak Gembus<\/strong> currently operates more than 850 outlets<\/strong>, supported by approximately 14,000 workers<\/strong>, and maintains partnerships with over 200 Islamic boarding schools (pesantren)<\/strong> nationwide. The company has also expanded into overseas markets<\/strong>, including Malaysia. With this scale, cooperation with farmer cooperatives is expected to create relatively stable market demand<\/strong> for smallholder poultry production.<\/h6>\n
