One strategic solution is to shift toward locally sourced ingredients; however, the main obstacle lies in their high crude fiber or <strong data-start=\"343\" data-end=\"379\">Non-Starch Polysaccharides (NSP)<\/strong> content, which is difficult for poultry to digest. If not properly managed, NSP increases intestinal viscosity, creating favorable conditions for the growth of pathogenic bacteria such as <em data-start=\"568\" data-end=\"593\">Clostridium perfringens<\/em>. This disrupts nutrient absorption and leads to energy wastage caused by intestinal inflammation or dysbiosis.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"706\" data-end=\"1471\">The key to successfully utilizing local feed ingredients lies in maintaining a balanced gut microbiome to achieve a state of <strong data-start=\"831\" data-end=\"843\">eubiosis<\/strong>. Enzyme technology has emerged as a game changer by breaking down complex plant cell walls. NSP-degrading enzymes, such as xylanase, convert crude fiber into <strong data-start=\"1002\" data-end=\"1033\">Xylo-oligosaccharides (XOS)<\/strong>, which function as natural prebiotics for beneficial bacteria like <em data-start=\"1101\" data-end=\"1116\">Lactobacillus<\/em>. These beneficial bacteria produce <strong data-start=\"1152\" data-end=\"1186\">Short-Chain Fatty Acids (SCFA)<\/strong>\u2014particularly butyric acid\u2014which serve as an energy source for intestinal epithelial cells and promote the elongation of intestinal villi. Healthy villi increase the surface area for nutrient absorption, thereby improving <strong data-start=\"1408\" data-end=\"1439\">Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR)<\/strong> and overall growth performance.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1473\" data-end=\"1983\">In addition, the use of feed additives such as probiotics and postbiotics is crucial for maintaining microbiome stability amid fluctuations in raw material quality. Through precision nutrition and optimized gut health management, the poultry industry can achieve maximum efficiency despite global price volatility. Furthermore, the implementation of precision nutrition using <strong data-start=\"1849\" data-end=\"1885\">Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR)<\/strong> technology is essential for real-time monitoring of variability in local feed ingredient quality.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1985\" data-end=\"2360\">In today\u2019s era, feed formulators must shift toward the <strong data-start=\"2040\" data-end=\"2057\">Ideal Protein<\/strong> concept, focusing on essential amino acids that are truly absorbable by poultry, as measured by <strong data-start=\"2154\" data-end=\"2190\">Standardized Ileal Digestibility<\/strong>. Another promising breakthrough is the use of <strong data-start=\"2237\" data-end=\"2276\">Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot meal<\/strong> as a sustainable alternative protein source with inherent antimicrobial properties.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2362\" data-end=\"2897\">The use of functional additives such as probiotics, postbiotics, emulsifiers, and <strong data-start=\"2444\" data-end=\"2461\">toxin binders<\/strong> has become vital in maintaining microbiome stability against fluctuations in raw material quality and the risk of mycotoxin contamination in tropical climates like Indonesia.
