POULTRYINDONESIA, Sidrap<\/b> \u2013 Local government efforts to strengthen the poultry-based food supply chain were once again on display. In Sidenreng Rappang (Sidrap), South Sulawesi, a total of 15 trucks loaded with eggs were officially dispatched to various regions on Wednesday (Feb 11). The send-off was led directly by the Regent of Sidrap, Syaharuddin Alrif<\/b>, alongside Vice Regent Nurkanaah<\/b> at the Monumen Ganggawa Pangkajene plaza.<\/h6>\n
The event was part of the 2026 Livestock and Farming Festival<\/b>, which recorded egg sales transactions exceeding 4 billion IDR<\/b>. On the second day of the event, the total volume of eggs absorbed by the market reached 92,085 trays<\/b> (approximately 3.06 million eggs). This supply was sourced from the combined production of four farming companies: PT Cahaya Mario Brother, Puncak Ternak Farm, Dirga Farm, and YPD Farm.<\/h6>\n
Supporting National Nutrition<\/b><\/h6>\n
According to records from the Sidrap Department of Livestock and Fisheries, all eggs sold were allocated to support the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program<\/b>, which is currently expanding its implementation across various regions.<\/h6>\n
The event was held concurrently with the Season I Harvest<\/b> in Takkalasi Village, Maritengngae District. It was attended by members of the Sidrap Regional Legislative Council (DPRD), including Andi Sugiarno, egg distributors, local government officials, and national comedian Narji Cagur<\/b>, who has famously pivoted to a career in farming.<\/h6>\n
Sidrap as a National Buffer<\/b><\/h6>\n
In his speech, Syaharuddin emphasized that this large-scale shipment reflects the consistently high production capacity of Sidrap’s layer farms. He expressed appreciation for the consistency of farmers and distributors in maintaining productivity and quality. This milestone further solidifies Sidrap\u2019s position as a key buffer for national egg demand.<\/h6>\n

“Today, we are sending 15 truckloads of eggs to various regions. This proves that Sidrap is capable of being a supporting pillar for food needs\u2014specifically eggs\u2014in Indonesia,” he stated.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Narji, attending as an invited guest, praised the local government’s seriousness in driving the agricultural and livestock sectors. He noted that Sidrap has the potential to be not only a “rice granary” but also Indonesia’s “egg granary.”<\/h6>\n
Cultural and Genetic Preservation<\/b><\/h6>\n
In addition to the distribution send-off, the Regent and Vice Regent inspected the “Ayam Ketawa” (Laughing Chicken) contest<\/b>. This unique South Sulawesi poultry germplasm is a point of local pride and a cultural attraction. The activity highlighted that the development of the poultry subsector is focused not only on production but also on preserving local genetic wealth.<\/h6>\n
