Through a training session titled <i data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"189\">&#8220;Superior Native Chicken Cultivation,&#8221;<\/i> the Food Security Directorate of the IKN Authority (OIKN) equipped Women Farmers Groups (<b data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"317\">KWT<\/b>) with the skills to manage native chicken businesses professionally. The event took place in IKN, East Kalimantan, on Friday (Feb 13).<\/h6>\n<h6 data-path-to-node=\"4\">The training resulted from a collaboration between the government, the private sector, and academia, involving <b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"111\">Wudi Chicken Balikpapan<\/b> and <b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"139\">Kagama<\/b> (Gadjah Mada University Alumni Association) Inclusion Activists. A total of 10 KWTs from IKN buffer villages\u2014including Telemov, Sukaraja, Argomulyo, Bumi Harapan, Pemaluan, and Karang Jinawi\u2014participated in the program.<\/h6>\n<h6 data-path-to-node=\"5\">A representative from the OIKN Food Security Directorate emphasized that women&#8217;s involvement is key to inclusive economic growth in the new capital region. &#8220;We want to ensure that local communities, especially mothers around IKN, are not just spectators but key players in providing animal protein,&#8221; they stated during the opening.<\/h6>\n<h6 data-path-to-node=\"6\"><b data-path-to-node=\"6\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Technical Mastery and Cage Management<\/b><\/h6>\n<h6 data-path-to-node=\"7\">The training material was delivered by <b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"39\">Fauzul Idhi<\/b>, a Superior Native Chicken expert from Wudi Chicken and a representative of Kagama Inclusion Activists. Fauzul warned that ammonia can pose a serious threat to poultry health. &#8220;If ammonia concentrations exceed <b data-path-to-node=\"10\" data-index-in-node=\"167\">20 ppm<\/b>, chickens risk respiratory issues and eye irritation,&#8221; he explained. To combat this, he recommended:<\/h6>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"11\">\n<li>\n<h6 data-path-to-node=\"11,0,0\">Proper coop ventilation.<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6 data-path-to-node=\"11,1,0\">Using absorbent materials like <b data-path-to-node=\"11,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"31\">zeolite<\/b> or <b data-path-to-node=\"11,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"42\">activated carbon<\/b>.<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h6 data-path-to-node=\"11,2,0\">Maintaining strict cage cleanliness.<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6 data-path-to-node=\"12\">Additionally, humidity plays a vital role. For young chickens (0\u20134 weeks old), the ideal humidity range is <b data-path-to-node=\"12\" data-index-in-node=\"107\">60\u201370%<\/b> to prevent diseases caused by fungi, viruses, or bacteria.<\/h6>\n<h6 data-path-to-node=\"13\"><b data-path-to-node=\"13\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Herbal Solutions and Disease Prevention<\/b><\/h6>\n<h6 data-path-to-node=\"14\">The training also introduced the use of <b data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"40\">herbal remedies<\/b> as an alternative to boost chicken immunity. Fauzul stressed the importance of correct dosages for safety and efficacy. &#8220;Herbs can be administered through feed, drinking water, or external applications for wound care,&#8221; he noted.<\/h6>\n<h6 data-path-to-node=\"15\">Participants also learned about external factors affecting growth, such as predator threats, temperature-induced stress, and contagious diseases like <b data-path-to-node=\"15\" data-index-in-node=\"150\">Newcastle Disease<\/b> and <b data-path-to-node=\"15\" data-index-in-node=\"172\">Gumboro<\/b>. In these cases, coop sanitation and water quality remains the foundation of livestock health.<\/h6>\n<h6 data-path-to-node=\"16\"><b data-path-to-node=\"16\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Sustainability and Future Support<\/b><\/h6>\n<h6 data-path-to-node=\"17\">Through this training, the 10 KWTs are expected to apply professional native chicken farming standards, from the initial growth phases to ammonia waste management.
