POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta<\/b> \u2013 The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) has prioritized the empowerment of smallholder layer farmers in its 2026 development agenda. This upcoming program aims to drive an increase in national egg production while ensuring the continued growth of layer farming businesses.<\/h6>\n
This focus was highlighted during a coordination meeting held on February 23\u201324, 2026, at the Ministry of Agriculture\u2019s headquarters in Jakarta. The meeting was attended by representatives from central units, field technical implementers, and the Ministry\u2019s internal auditors. The primary agenda focused on discussing technical implementation guidelines to ensure the program remains on target at the field level.<\/h6>\n
The Director General of Livestock and Animal Health, Agung Suganda<\/b>, emphasized that the program must deliver a direct impact to smallholder farmers. He noted that the program\u2019s success should not be measured merely by the number of chickens distributed, but by the birds’ ability to produce optimally and increase egg availability for the public.<\/h6>\n
\u201cStrengthening governance from upstream to downstream is essential, starting from meticulous planning to on-site mentoring. Production targets must be based on farmer readiness so that the program yields measurable outputs,\u201d he explained.<\/h6>\n
Ali Agus<\/b>, the Minister of Agriculture\u2019s Expert Staff for Downstreaming Livestock Products, added that integrated poultry programs must favor the farmers.<\/h6>\n
\u201cIn my view, true success is not merely administrative; it is about the program\u2019s ability to increase production capacity and strengthen the business sustainability of farmers in the field.\u201d<\/h6>\n
From an oversight perspective, Pujo Harmadi<\/b>, Inspector IV of the Ministry\u2019s Inspectorate General, stated that program evaluations will focus on production achievements. He noted that the government is committed to ensuring that every bird distributed truly contributes to the public egg supply.<\/h6>\n
\u201cThrough the strengthening of three main pillars\u2014planning, mentoring, and oversight\u2014the government plays a role in protecting smallholder farmers while driving the growth of the poultry sector,\u201d Pujo said.<\/h6>\n
