POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta<\/b> \u2014 The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting national farmers and maintaining independence in animal protein supply amidst the dynamics of international trade. This assertion was made during a poultry sector coordination meeting with industry stakeholders at the Ministry of Agriculture Headquarters, Thursday (Feb 26, 2026).<\/h6>\n
Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman<\/b>, speaking via telephone, emphasized that the government stands firmly with the interests of farmers and will not let them face global pressures without state support. According to him, the sustainability of the poultry business is a strategic part of efforts to maintain national food security.<\/h6>\n
\u201cWe stand with Indonesian farmers. Do not let our farmers walk alone. We will continue to fight for and defend them,\u201d Minister Amran asserted.<\/p>\n
He also stressed the importance of reference price policies<\/b> as an instrument to maintain business stability for farmers and to anticipate market fluctuations that could potentially harm domestic producers. The government, he continued, continues to push for the strengthening of downstreaming (hilirisasi)<\/b> to increase value-added and the competitiveness of the national poultry sector.<\/h6>\n
\u201cWe will maintain the HET (Maximum Retail Price)<\/b>. We are building downstreaming to empower our farmers,\u201d he added.<\/h6>\n
Supply Stability and Domestic Production<\/h6>\n
Meanwhile, the Director General of Livestock and Animal Health, Agung Suganda<\/b>, reported that the national availability of poultry commodities\u2014specifically broiler meat and eggs\u2014remains secure and controlled, including leading up to and during the Ramadan period.<\/h6>\n
\u201cWe appreciate all business actors who have maintained the availability of chicken meat and eggs. To date, supply is secure and prices are relatively stable. Field monitoring continues to ensure supply and price stability,\u201d he said.<\/h6>\n
According to Agung, the national poultry sector is growing stronger and is capable of meeting domestic needs, with even further opportunities to expand into export markets.<\/h6>\n
Stakeholder Support<\/h6>\n
During the same event, poultry industry players expressed their support for the government\u2019s steps in maintaining the sustainability of the national industry. They believe that government coordination is a vital factor in ensuring trade policies remain aligned with the interests of farmers and domestic business actors.<\/h6>\n
The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed it will continue to strengthen coordination with business actors, associations, and other stakeholders to maintain the stability of the national poultry sector. The government also ensured that every trade policy will consider the interests of smallholder farmers (peternak rakyat)<\/b> and the sustainability of domestic production.<\/h6>\n
