POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta<\/strong> \u2013 PT Berdikari, a member of the state-owned food holding ID FOOD<\/strong>, has officially partnered with PT Ugi Agri Harapan Indonesia (UGI) to develop an integrated poultry industry in South Sulawesi Province<\/strong>. The signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two companies took place on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the ID FOOD Headquarters in Kuningan, Jakarta, as part of efforts to accelerate downstream development in Indonesia\u2019s poultry sector.<\/h6>\n
This partnership is designed to enable smallholder farmers to participate more actively in the poultry business chain, from production to market distribution. The integrated business model being developed is expected to provide farmers in the region with easier access to production inputs, greater market certainty, cost efficiency, and overall added value for their businesses.<\/h6>\n
President Director of PT Berdikari, Maryadi<\/strong>, emphasized that the collaboration serves as a foundation for strengthening the poultry sector while also driving economic growth, particularly for local farmers.<\/h6>\n
\u201cWe hope this collaboration will bring tangible benefits to South Sulawesi, especially for farmers. The integrated poultry industry we are developing is expected to strengthen production while also improving farmers\u2019 welfare,\u201d said Maryadi.<\/h6>\n
He added that the MoU signing marks only the initial step. The partnership will later be followed up through an operational cooperation scheme (KSO) or other forms of technical collaboration to ensure that the industry development progresses in a more structured manner and opens wider partnership opportunities for local farmers. Maryadi also expressed appreciation for the support from various stakeholders, including ministries, partners, and related institutions involved since the program\u2019s initiation.<\/h6>\n
From the UGI side, Director of PT Ugi Agri Harapan Indonesia, Andi Damisnur<\/strong>, expressed full commitment to implementing the partnership optimally and welcomed input from various parties for improvement.<\/h6>\n
\u201cWe seek guidance from all relevant stakeholders so that this cooperation can run smoothly. Any feedback will certainly serve as evaluation and improvement for us,\u201d said Andi Damisnur.<\/h6>\n
The Ministry of Agriculture<\/strong> considers this initiative in line with the government\u2019s strategy to strengthen downstream development in the poultry sector while ensuring that smallholder farmers benefit from it. Special Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture for Livestock Product Downstreaming, Ali Agus<\/strong>, stated that strengthening downstream integration is key to improving efficiency, industry competitiveness, and expanding economic benefits for farmers.<\/h6>\n
\u201cDownstream development in poultry farming must continue to be strengthened through partnerships that integrate upstream activities, on-farm production, processing, and distribution. In this way, added value will increase and the economic benefits can be more widely felt by farmers and business players in the regions,\u201d explained Ali Agus.<\/h6>\n
Ali also emphasized that such partnerships serve as a government instrument to ensure that smallholder farmers do not face market volatility alone. According to him, integration from upstream to downstream will create a more stable business ecosystem, enabling farmers to gain greater business certainty and more competitive prices.<\/h6>\n
Through the development of this integrated poultry industry in South Sulawesi, the government aims to increase the participation of smallholder farmers in a more modern production chain, while also boosting income and improving the welfare of surrounding communities.<\/h6>\n
