POULTRYINDONESIA, Depok<\/strong> \u2013 The Indonesian Food Development Foundation (YAPPI) has introduced a new direction for the Indolivestock Services Award 2026, following the organization\u2019s transformation from the Indonesian Livestock Development Foundation. This change marks an expansion of focus\u2014from primarily the livestock sector to a broader food sector\u2014under the theme \u201cFood for Better Lives.\u201d<\/em><\/h6>\n
YAPPI Chairman, Desianto B. Utomo, stated that this year\u2019s awards will focus on the food sector and are no longer limited to livestock. The scope has been broadened to include food derived from both livestock and agricultural sectors.<\/h6>\n
\u201cIn the past, we focused heavily on livestock, research, and production aspects. This year, we are shifting toward food. It can be livestock-based or purely from agriculture. What we are looking for is innovation and real contributions in the food sector,\u201d said Desianto during a press conference in Cibubur on Thursday (April 30).<\/h6>\n
This approach also aims to position good practices in the field as an essential part of building food security. The awards will recognize various food innovations and social programs that are continuously implemented and have a direct impact on communities.<\/h6>\n
There are three main award categories: corporations, non-profit organizations, and individuals who have contributed to social initiatives in the food sector. The programs evaluated include various forms, ranging from food assistance and affordable food provision to community empowerment activities focused on strengthening food security.<\/h6>\n
\u201cThis award is not intended as a competition, but rather as an appreciation for sustainable food empowerment activities for communities. It is not about one-time aid during disasters, but programs that have been carried out for years and are still ongoing,\u201d he added.<\/h6>\n
Meanwhile, YAPPI Secretary Bambang Suharno explained that the selection process will be conducted in stages, starting from registration and screening, administrative selection, and evaluation by a panel of judges before determining the award recipients. Several aspects will be assessed, including program commitment, social impact, and sustainability.<\/h6>\n
\u201cThe programs can take the form of routine food assistance, affordable food bazaars, public kitchens, or community empowerment activities related to food security. The key is sustainability\u2014not just one-off activities,\u201d he said.<\/h6>\n
On the same occasion, YAPPI Deputy Secretary Setya Winarno added that the organization has had a long journey since its establishment in 2002 by various professional organizations representing industry, academia, associations, and government.<\/h6>\n
\u201cOur activities have included not only national-scale assessments but also seminars. Previously, we evaluated players in the livestock industry, especially poultry. The assessment covered human resource development, input engineering, and product innovation,\u201d he explained.<\/h6>\n
He further noted that several major industry players today had undergone evaluation processes from early stages, including direct verification across various regions, even reaching Eastern Indonesia.<\/h6>\n
He also mentioned that the evaluation mechanism differs between the industrial sector and regional governments, where even-numbered years focus on industry and odd-numbered years on regional governments.<\/h6>\n
\u201cThis has continued up to the most recent event in Surabaya last year. However, with our name change to focus on food, starting this year we will concentrate more on the food sector,\u201d he concluded.<\/h6>\n
The Indolivestock Services Award 2026 is scheduled to take place on June 17, 2026, as part of the Indo Livestock Expo & Forum at the Nusantara International Convention Exhibition (NICE), Pantai Indah Kapuk 2, Jakarta. It is expected to serve not only as a form of appreciation but also as a platform for sharing best practices that can be replicated across regions.<\/h6>\n
