POULTRYINDONESIA, Tangerang<\/b> \u2013 The Indonesian Food Development Foundation (YAPPI), in collaboration with PT Napindo Media Ashatama, presented the Indo Livestock Innovation Award 2026 to several researchers and social activists recognized for their contributions to national food development. The awards were handed out during the opening ceremony of the Indo Livestock Expo & Forum 2026 at the Nusantara International Convention Exhibition (NICE), PIK 2, Tangerang, on Wednesday (17\/6).<\/p>\n
This year, the awards were presented across four distinct categories: Livestock-Based Food Innovation, Agriculture-Based Food Innovation, Processing-Based Food Innovation, and the Special Food Award for Social Contribution.<\/p>\n
The Chairman of YAPPI and Head of the Indo Livestock Innovation Award 2026 Judging Panel, Desianto Budi Utomo, stated that these awards serve not only as a token of appreciation for innovators but also as a platform to showcase real-world solutions that can support national food security.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis award does not just offer appreciation to innovators; it also serves as a vehicle to introduce various concrete solutions that can support national food security, improve community welfare, and strengthen national self-reliance,\u201d Desianto stated.<\/p>\n
According to him, the evaluation process was conducted objectively and independently by taking into account six main criteria: the degree of innovation, utilization of local food ingredients, economic and social impacts, environmental sustainability, food quality and safety, as well as potential for scaling and replication.<\/p>\n
In this year’s edition, a total of 40 innovations from research institutions, 21 universities, and 11 philanthropic organizations entered the selection process. Participants came from various regions across Indonesia, spanning Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi to Nusa Tenggara.<\/p>\n
In the Livestock-Based Food Innovation<\/b> category, the award was presented to Prof. Dr. Ir. Luki Abdullah, M.Sc.Agr from the Faculty of Animal Science at IPB University for his innovation, Green Concentrate Indigofera (GCI): Local Protein Sources for National Feed Self-Sufficiency and Security<\/i>.<\/p>\n
YAPPI assessed that this innovation successfully delivers a functional feed based on local resources, which has the potential to boost livestock productivity, strengthen immune systems, and yield healthier livestock products. Supported by modern production technology and current industry adoption, GCI is considered a viable alternative to support national feed self-sufficiency.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the award for the Agriculture-Based Food Innovation<\/b> category went to Prof. Dr. Eni Sumarni, S.TP., M.Si from the Faculty of Agriculture at Jenderal Soedirman University for her innovative root zone cooling application in aeroponic systems for potato and garlic seed production in tropical lowlands<\/i>.<\/p>\n
The award for the Processing-Based Food Innovation<\/b> category was presented to Dr. Santi Dwi Astuti, S.TP., M.Si from the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) at Jenderal Soedirman University. Her developed innovation features gluten-free noodles made from modified cassava flour (MOCAF) using non-extrusion appropriate technology<\/i>.<\/p>\n
In addition to technological innovations, YAPPI presented the Special Food Award for Social Contribution<\/b> to Aditya Prayoga, the founder of Rumah Makan Gratis<\/i> (RMG\u2014Free Dining House). Since 2016, this program has consistently provided free meals to underprivileged communities across several Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) areas. Beyond food services, RMG has also developed educational programs and micro-business training for communities.<\/p>\n
The awards were presented by the Director General of Livestock and Animal Health Services, Agung Suganda, representing the Indonesian Minister of Agriculture, alongside the Chairman of YAPPI.<\/p>\n
Following the award ceremony, YAPPI hosted a dialogue session with the award recipients. In this forum, the innovators shared their research journeys, technology development challenges, and the downstream processing (hilirisasi<\/i>) required to enable broader implementation of their innovations across communities and industries.<\/p>\n
Through the staging of the Indo Livestock Innovation Award 2026, YAPPI and PT Napindo Media Ashatama hope that more innovations and social movements will emerge to reinforce food security, enhance community welfare, and drive sustainable agricultural and livestock development in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
