POULTRYINDONESIA, Tasikmalaya<\/b> \u2014 Efforts to expand the market for broiler chicken eggs from Blitar Regency continue to be pursued. In a meeting held at Tasikmalaya City Hall on Monday (June 23, 2026), the Blitar Regency Government (Pemkab<\/i>) and the Tasikmalaya City Government (Pemkot<\/i>) signed a cooperation agreement on regional inflation control for strategic food commodities.<\/h6>\n
The agenda was attended directly by the Regent of Blitar, the Mayor of Tasikmalaya and their respective staffs, the Vice Regent of Blitar, leaders of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) from both regions, relevant regional government agencies, and representatives of poultry cooperative associations from Blitar Raya, including the BPKB (Bina Peternak Karya Bersama<\/i>), PMB, UTARA, KOPPI, and KP2MB cooperatives.<\/h6>\n
Behind the ceremony lies great hope for Blitar egg farmers, who have faced pressure over the past few months due to an oversupply at the production level.<\/h6>\n
One of the meeting outcomes that caught the attention of farmers is the potential for egg absorption to support the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (Program Makan Bergizi Gratis<\/i> \/ MBG) in Tasikmalaya City. During the joint discussion, it was revealed that there is a demand for eggs across 140 Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi<\/i> \/ SPPG) operating in the region.<\/h6>\n
Every two SPPG units serve approximately 2,000 beneficiaries, with an egg consumption frequency of three times a week. Based on demand calculations, the volume of eggs that could potentially be absorbed reaches around 56 tons per week, or approximately 224 tons per month.<\/h6>\n
\"\"This volume is considered significant enough to help reduce the egg inventory accumulation currently occurring in Blitar Regency. With a laying hen population of around 29.7 million birds, egg production in Blitar is estimated to reach 1,650 tons per day.<\/h6>\n
A farmers’ representative from the Bina Peternak Karya Bersama (BPKB) Cooperative, Eti Marlina, welcomed this cooperation opportunity. According to her, opening up market access through government programs could serve as a tangible solution amid surplus production conditions.<\/h6>\n
“We welcome the local government’s steps to open new markets for poultry farmers’ eggs. The demand for the MBG program in Tasikmalaya is certainly an excellent opportunity. We hope that cooperation like this can run sustainably to help maintain the balance of supply and prices at the farmer level,” Eti said.<\/h6>\n
She added that for some time now, farmers have faced challenges due to high production that has not been fully matched by demand growth. This condition has put downward pressure on prices at the farm gate.<\/h6>\n
During the forum, the farmers’ representatives also voiced their aspirations to the Blitar Regency Government to continue helping expand marketing access to relieve the current accumulation of egg stocks.<\/h6>\n
Furthermore, farmers requested that the local government consider policies to control the growth of the laying hen population, both for new farmers and incoming sector investors. This step is deemed vital to prevent recurring oversupply in the future.<\/h6>\n
Currently, the egg price under this cooperation scheme is planned to reference the Government Reference Price (Harga Acuan Penjualan<\/i> \/ HAP) of IDR 26,500 per kilogram.<\/h6>\n
For farmers, the agreement between the Blitar Regency Government and the Tasikmalaya City Government is more than just the signing of an inter-regional cooperation document. Beyond that, the partnership represents a dedicated effort to expand the absorption of national egg production while safeguarding the business sustainability of smallholder poultry farmers amid the oversupply challenges that still overshadow the national poultry industry.<\/h6>\n
