POULTRYINDONESIA, Balaraja<\/strong> \u2013 PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Tbk (CPI)<\/strong> welcomed a visit from the Banten Provincial Government<\/strong> as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the poultry industry and the government in supporting food security and the development of the regional livestock sector. The visit took place at Charoen Pokphand Indonesia’s Balaraja plant on Monday (June 29, 2026).<\/h5>\n
The event, held at CPI’s production facility, was attended by Banten Governor Andra Soni, S.M., M.AP<\/strong>, along with members of the provincial administration, including Drs. H. Kurnia Satriawan, M.Si., Ak., CA<\/strong> (Expert Staff to the Governor for Development, Economy, and Finance), Ir. Virgojanti, M.Si.<\/strong> (Head of the Provincial Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency), Dr. Iwan Hermawan, ST., MM<\/strong> (Head of the Provincial Industry and Trade Office), Drs. Septo Kalnadi, MM<\/strong> (Head of the Provincial Manpower Office), Wawan Gunawan, S.Sos., M.Si.<\/strong> (Head of the Provincial Environment and Forestry Office), and Dr. Nasir, SP., M.B.A., MP<\/strong> (Acting Head of the Provincial Agriculture Office).<\/h5>\n
In his remarks, Suparman<\/strong>, Commissioner of PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Tbk, said that the company began its business journey in 1969 and officially commenced operations in 1972. Starting with the development of day-old chicks (DOC)<\/strong>, the company later expanded into breeding farms, animal feed production, and ultimately established an integrated livestock business system.<\/h5>\n
Today, CPI operates an extensive network across Indonesia, supported by 11 manufacturing plants that contribute to the national livestock supply chain. “As long as the company produces DOC, it also has the responsibility to provide high-quality feed to ensure optimal poultry performance,” Suparman said.<\/h5>\n
He explained that the company’s business development extends beyond feed production to creating a fully integrated ecosystem spanning the entire value chain\u2014from breeding farms, feed manufacturing, and poultry farming to poultry slaughterhouses and processed food production.<\/h5>\n
According to Suparman, this integrated business model also generates broad economic benefits by involving various supporting sectors, including transportation, raw material suppliers, and local farmers.<\/h5>\n
Meanwhile, Governor Andra Soni expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to observe firsthand the company’s feed production process and operational system. He noted that the feed manufacturing industry plays a strategic role in supporting the national food security agenda while creating significant multiplier effects for surrounding communities.<\/h5>\n
“The government must ensure that the food security ecosystem functions effectively. The presence of industries such as CPI not only creates employment opportunities but also stimulates other sectors, including corn farming, rice farming, logistics services, and the local economy,” he said.<\/h5>\n
During the visit, the Banten Provincial Government also highlighted the region’s substantial potential, which could be further optimized through collaboration with industry, particularly given Banten’s strategic geographic location and well-developed infrastructure.<\/h5>\n
Governor Andra Soni added that the provincial government is promoting a community empowerment approach through partnership schemes, including expanding opportunities for smallholder poultry farming to improve access to animal protein while enhancing community welfare.<\/h5>\n
According to him, Banten has strong fundamentals for developing its poultry sector, supported by the presence of industry, the availability of day-old chicks, market access, and human resources with significant development potential.<\/h5>\n
“We want to establish an empowerment model that goes beyond simply providing assistance by creating community self-reliance through productive businesses. With the necessary ecosystem already in place, the presence of large industries can also serve as a catalyst for broader economic growth,” he said.<\/h5>\n
Furthermore, the Banten Provincial Government is open to collaborating with CPI to support regional development programs, including strengthening the livestock sector and meeting the community’s protein needs. The visit is expected to mark the beginning of closer cooperation between the government and industry in building a sustainable, efficient livestock ecosystem that delivers broader economic benefits to the people of Banten.<\/h5>\n
