POULTRYINDONESIA, Blitar<\/strong> \u2013 PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Tbk (CPI)<\/strong> has continued its direct egg purchasing program from smallholder farmers through its initiative titled “Sharing Benefits for the Community.”<\/strong> This time, the company once again purchased eggs from farmers in Blitar, East Java<\/strong>, one of Indonesia’s largest egg-producing regions.<\/h6>\n
Previously, CPI carried out a similar initiative by purchasing approximately 1.5 metric tons of eggs<\/strong> from Blitar farmers who had been forced to sell their products along the roadside due to depressed farm-gate egg prices.<\/h6>\n
Bonari<\/strong>, a layer farmer and member of the Ultra Cooperative<\/strong>, welcomed the initiative, saying it provides tangible support for independent farmers struggling with low egg prices, particularly in major production centers such as Blitar.<\/h6>\n
“Programs like this are very helpful for smallholder farmers during a period of extremely low egg prices. Direct purchases from farmers also reduce pressure from middlemen, allowing farmers to receive fairer prices,”<\/em> he said.<\/h6>\n
A similar sentiment was expressed by Purnawan<\/strong>, a farmer and member of the KOPI Cooperative<\/strong>, who hopes the program will continue and expand so that more smallholder farmers can benefit.<\/h6>\n
“Hopefully, initiatives like this will continue and reach more farmers, enabling smallholders to survive despite the challenging market conditions,”<\/em> he said.<\/h6>\n
\"\"Meanwhile, Alfareza<\/strong>, a farmer and member of the KEPO Cooperative<\/strong>, also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to CPI for purchasing eggs directly from local farmers.<\/h6>\n
While the eggs purchased during the previous initiative were distributed to CPI employees at its production facilities and used in various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)<\/strong> programs, the eggs purchased from Blitar this time will be distributed to community health posts (Posyandu)<\/strong> serving young children in Bringinbendo Village, Taman District, Sidoarjo Regency<\/strong>, as part of the company’s CSR program.<\/h6>\n
Head of the Trosobo Community Health Center (Puskesmas)<\/strong>, drg. Devy Febrina Rindianti<\/strong>, expressed appreciation for CPI’s egg donation to support Posyandu activities in the area.<\/h6>\n
“We sincerely appreciate the CSR contribution in the form of eggs for our Posyandu program.
