POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta \u2013<\/strong> Efforts to reduce feed costs for smallholder farmers have taken a new step through a partnership between a state-owned enterprise (SOE) and the LPER Producers Cooperative. The collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the supply of feed raw materials, particularly soybean meal (SBM). In the initial stage, the two parties have committed to distributing 5,000 tons of SBM to smallholder farmers affiliated with the LPER Cooperative in various regions across Indonesia.<\/h6>\n
The MoU was signed on Tuesday (August 18) by LPER Cooperative Chairman H. Mulyadi Atma and PT Berdikari President Director Maryadi. The signing was also attended by PT Berdikari Operations Director Agung Aulia, along with PT Berdikari executives and representatives of the LPER Cooperative.<\/h6>\n
\"\"The Chairman of the LPER Cooperative said the partnership could provide farmers with an alternative source for obtaining feed raw materials. Feed is one of the largest components of livestock production costs.<\/h6>\n
\u201cThis is clear evidence that the state is not abandoning smallholder farmers. With the initial 5,000 tons of SBM, we are optimistic that the cost of producing eggs and chicken can be reduced and farmers can recover,\u201d he said.<\/h6>\n
Under the scheme, farmers are expected to obtain SBM supplies through a shorter distribution chain, allowing the availability and prices of raw materials at the farm level to be better controlled. PT Berdikari also expressed its commitment to supporting the supply of raw materials while serving as an off-taker in developing an integrated livestock ecosystem through cooperatives.<\/h6>\n
For farmers, the partnership is expected to provide better access to feed raw materials, particularly for MSME farmers who are members of the LPER Cooperative. With a more secure supply of raw materials, the production of commercial eggs and broiler chickens is expected to be maintained and increased.<\/h6>\n
\u201cWe are committed to starting with these 5,000 tons. Our target is to build an integrated and equitable poultry farming ecosystem,\u201d said the SOE executive.<\/h6>\n
The distribution of 5,000 tons of SBM marks the initial stage of cooperation between PT Berdikari and the LPER Cooperative. Going forward, the effectiveness of the program will be measured by the actual distribution, the distribution mechanism, and ultimately the SBM prices received by farmers at the end-user level.<\/h6>\n
