POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta \u2013<\/strong> The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), together with the Indonesian Poultry Breeding Companies Association (GPPU), is strengthening synergy to ensure sustainable production and price stability in the national poultry industry. Cooperation between the government and industry players is essential to ensure the availability of breeding stock, maintain a balance between supply and demand, and provide business certainty for farmers.<\/h6>\n
Director of Animal Breeding and Production at the Ministry of Agriculture, Hary Suhada, welcomed GPPU\u2019s commitment to jointly maintain poultry production and price stability.<\/h6>\n
\u201cWe appreciate GPPU\u2019s commitment to jointly maintaining production and price stability. The government hopes that all segments of the poultry industry will continue to work together to ensure DOC availability, maintain reasonable prices, and provide farmers with certainty in running their businesses,\u201d Hary said at the Ministry of Agriculture\u2019s Office in Jakarta on Monday (October 5, 2026).<\/h6>\n
According to Hary, coordination between the government and industry players is key to ensuring that breeding and production policies are implemented effectively in the field.<\/h6>\n
\u201cThe key is communication and joint efforts. The government is here to maintain ecosystem balance, while the industry plays a role in ensuring that production and distribution run properly,\u201d he said.<\/h6>\n
GPPU Chairman Asrokh Nawawi said that poultry industry conditions, particularly in the broiler sector, are relatively stable. The breeding industry is also committed to maintaining production and supporting price stability throughout the supply chain.<\/h6>\n
According to Asrokh, this commitment is reflected, among other things, in maintaining DOC prices in line with the government\u2019s reference prices. He said that the current price of broiler DOC is Rp7,000 per chick, ex-factory and unvaccinated, while layer DOC is priced at Rp11,000 per chick, ex-factory and unvaccinated.<\/h6>\n
\u201cThe GPPU leadership and management have coordinated with the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health through the Director of Animal Breeding and Production to jointly commit to maintaining production and price stability,\u201d Asrokh said.<\/h6>\n
He also urged distributors and business partners to maintain margins within reasonable limits so that price continuity can be maintained down to the farmer level.<\/h6>\n
The synergy is not limited to breeding but is also aimed at maintaining a balance in production, supply, absorption, distribution, and prices of poultry products, including commercial chicken eggs at the farm level.<\/h6>\n
The government continues to strengthen coordination with ministries\/agencies, regional governments, associations, industry players, and farmers. These efforts include strengthening market absorption, facilitating distribution from surplus areas to regions in need, and promoting measured production management.<\/h6>\n
One of the ongoing efforts is to increase the utilization of eggs in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. This measure is expected to expand the market while increasing egg absorption from local farmers.<\/h6>\n
Downstream, the government is encouraging the development of egg-processing industries, including egg powder. The industry is expected to serve as an alternative outlet when production increases while also increasing the added value of domestic eggs.<\/h6>\n
Its utilization can be expanded to meet the needs of the food, bakery, hotel, restaurant, catering, and various other processing industries.<\/h6>\n
On the production side, the government is encouraging industry players to conduct regular flock replacement and avoid delaying the culling of chickens that have reached the end of their productive period. This measure is important to maintain flock productivity, adjust flock populations to market absorption capacity, and improve production cost efficiency.<\/h6>\n
The government is also continuing to oversee the implementation of the reference price for commercial chicken eggs at the farmer level, strengthen market-trade supervision, and maintain the availability and affordability of feed. Controlling production costs is an important part of ensuring the sustainability of farmers\u2019 businesses.<\/h6>\n
Hary emphasized that stabilizing the poultry industry requires the involvement of all segments of the value chain, from breeding, feed, and farming to processing, distribution, and consumers.<\/h6>\n
\u201cWhat we are safeguarding is not only prices but the entire ecosystem. Production must be sustainable, farmers must receive fair prices, distribution must function properly, the industry must grow, and consumers must continue to have access to affordable poultry-based food products,\u201d he said.<\/h6>\n
By strengthening coordination from upstream to downstream, the Ministry of Agriculture and industry players continue to maintain the balance of the national poultry ecosystem. These efforts are expected to strengthen the industry\u2019s competitiveness, increase added value, and provide greater certainty for the sustainability of smallholder farmers\u2019 businesses.<\/h6>\n
