POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta \u2013<\/strong> The government is accelerating corn distribution under the Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program to meet poultry farmers\u2019 demand for feed raw materials. The program utilizes available stocks held by state-owned logistics company Perum Bulog, alongside additional procurement to meet demand across various regions.<\/h6>\n
Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman said the accelerated distribution was intended to address farmers\u2019 complaints about corn prices and availability. During a meeting with farmer representatives, cooperatives, and associations on Friday (October 9, 2026), he stated that 150,000 tons of corn remained available under the SPHP quota.<\/h6>\n
\u201cThe immediate priority is to distribute the corn currently in warehouses while procurement continues. There are still 150,000 tons available under the SPHP quota, which is sufficient,\u201d Amran said.<\/h6>\n
Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, President Director of Perum Bulog, said corn distribution was being carried out by supplying demand in several regions from production centers, including Gorontalo, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and South Sulawesi.<\/h6>\n
\u201cApproximately 15,000 tons of corn have arrived at Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya and are undergoing unloading before being distributed to several regions across Java.\u201d<\/h6>\n
Of this volume, 5,000 tons each have been allocated to East Java and Central Java. The remaining 5,000 tons are designated for West Java, Jakarta, and Banten.<\/h6>\n
\u201cApproximately 15,000 tons unloaded last night are being dispatched immediately, with 5,000 tons going to East Java, 5,000 tons to Central Java, and 5,000 tons to West Java and Banten,\u201d Rizal said.<\/h6>\n
Bulog also reported that more than 5,000 tons of corn were available in Lampung. These stocks are intended to meet local farmers\u2019 needs, including those operating micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).<\/h6>\n
To support distribution, Bulog is coordinating with PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) and PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry. The coordination covers transportation by sea and ferry services, as well as priority berthing arrangements for vessels carrying food commodities. Rizal said these measures were intended to accelerate the unloading process and delivery of corn to its destinations.<\/h6>\n
\u201cWe are prioritizing berthing for vessels carrying food commodities at ports including Ketapang, Tanjung Perak, Tanjung Emas, and Tanjung Priok,\u201d he said.<\/h6>\n
SPHP corn is priced at Rp5,000 per kilogram. Meanwhile, market prices have been reported at around Rp8,000 per kilogram, reaching Rp8,000\u2013Rp8,400 per kilogram in Lampung. This price difference is one of the factors encouraging farmers to obtain corn through the SPHP program.<\/h6>\n
Kasmani, a representative of the National Layer Farmers Association (PPN) Lampung Cooperative, said Bulog\u2019s current corn stocks in Lampung, totaling more than 5,000 tons, were considered sufficient to meet the needs of approximately 100 MSME-scale livestock farmers. However, he highlighted distribution needs in other regions, particularly East Java and Central Java, which had previously experienced supply shortages.<\/h6>\n

He noted that corn prices in Lampung\u2019s market ranged from Rp8,000 to Rp8,400 per kilogram, while SPHP corn was priced at Rp5,000 per kilogram. Kasmani expressed hope that SPHP corn distribution would continue through February 2027 to ensure MSME-scale livestock farmers maintained access to corn supplies. Nevertheless, the program\u2019s effectiveness in meeting farmers\u2019 needs will depend on stock availability, smooth distribution, and farmers\u2019 access to the corn being supplied.<\/h6>\n
In addition to distributing existing stocks, the Ministry of Agriculture is preparing a program to increase corn production through the provision of seeds and agricultural machinery. By December 2026, corn seed assistance is planned for 20,000 hectares of farmland managed by farmers working with cooperatives that support livestock producers.<\/h6>\n
Under this scheme, the resulting harvest can be purchased directly by the livestock farmers who support the participating crop farmers. If production exceeds farmers\u2019 requirements, Bulog can act as a buyer or offtaker.<\/h6>\n
The government is also preparing a warehouse receipt scheme to accommodate harvests that have not yet been absorbed by the market. Bulog can purchase and store the corn as cooperative-owned reserve stocks for use when supplies decline.<\/h6>\n
