POULTRYINDONESIA, West Bandung – Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasized that there is no tolerance for traders selling food above the Maximum Retail Price (HET) during a surprise inspection (sidak) at Tagog Market, Padalarang, West Bandung Regency, West Java, on Wednesday (Jan 28, 2026).
During the inspection, Minister Amran found that the majority of strategic food commodity prices remained below the Maximum Retail Price (HET). Purebred chicken eggs were recorded at Rp28,000 per kilogram, chicken meat ranged from Rp30,000–Rp37,000 per kilogram, and beef was at Rp125,000 per kilogram—all of which fall below the HET limits.
“Alhamdulillah, today’s inspection results show that the average prices for eggs, chicken, and beef are still below the HET. This indicates that distribution and supply are running well,” said Minister Amran.
However, the Minister discovered a price violation by a trader selling cooking oil above the HET. The product was being sold for Rp18,000 per liter, while the government-mandated HET is Rp15,700 per liter.

“This is already ‘offside.’ No one is allowed to sell above the HET. We have been issuing advisories for a year, but now it is time for enforcement. I have reported this directly and handed it over to the Director of Special Criminal Investigation (Dirkrimsus) for investigation and firm action. If necessary, their permit should be revoked,” Minister Amran asserted.

He stressed that the government will no longer just issue warnings but will take firm legal action against food price violations, particularly for commodities involving the public’s basic needs.
“I have asked the authorities to track this from upstream to downstream. We must trace who is making the pricing decisions. This is a form of our commitment to protecting public purchasing power,” he said.
This surprise inspection serves as a form of direct government supervision over food price stability on the ground, especially ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. Minister Amran ensured that the Ministry of Agriculture will continue to synergize with law enforcement, local governments, and all stakeholders to maintain supply, price stability, and the orderliness of national food distribution.
