POULTRYINDONESIA, Bone – The Government, in collaboration with Danantara, continues to push for an integrated chicken downstream program to build a poultry ecosystem from upstream to downstream within a single region. The Director General of Livestock and Animal Health at the Ministry of Agriculture, Agung Suganda, stated that this program is designed to strengthen supply chain efficiency, reduce production costs, and ensure that the value-add of the poultry industry remains within and benefits the region, particularly local farmers.
“With integrated chicken downstreaming, we hope this program can provide tangible benefits for the development of the regional livestock subsector, support national poultry product needs, and simultaneously create jobs and drive the rural economy,” he said while personally inspecting the site readiness in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi, Friday (Dec 26, 2025).
The site inspection was conducted thoroughly, covering potential land for poultry housing, feed production, water sources, and locations for Poultry Slaughterhouses (RPHU). This stage is crucial to ensure technical readiness, spatial planning, and cross-sectoral support.

The Governor of South Sulawesi, Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, was also present during the field inspection and expressed the South Sulawesi Provincial Government’s full commitment to supporting the integrated chicken downstreaming in Bone Regency.
Echoing this sentiment, the Regent of Bone, Andi Asman Sulaiman, welcomed the integrated poultry development plan in his region, assessing that the program will have a positive impact on the community.
“We welcome this investment, which will establish Bone as a production center for layer and broiler chickens in South Sulawesi. Furthermore, local residents will be prioritized for the workforce,” Andi Asman noted, as he had previously stated.
With strong support from both central and regional governments, integrated chicken downstreaming is expected to become a model for modern livestock development based on local potential. This downstreaming program will contribute significantly to meeting the demand for poultry products while strengthening the livestock subsector’s role as a driver of the rural economy and a source of new employment
