POULTRYINDONESIA, Yogyakarta – The People’s Economic Empowerment Institute (LPER) Producers Cooperative has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the National Strategic Programs of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, particularly in strengthening food security through cooperatives and smallholder livestock farming. This commitment was highlighted during the LPER Producers Cooperative Annual Member Meeting (RAT) for the 2025 Fiscal Year, held on Friday (Feb 6, 2026) in Yogyakarta.
This year’s RAT served not only as a forum for organizational accountability but also featured the launch of the LPER Digital Cooperative, institutional audiences, and the inauguration of regional boards. These steps are seen as part of LPER’s efforts to strengthen organizational governance while adapting to the increasingly dynamic needs of the poultry industry.
Special Staff to the Indonesian Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, Prof. Ambar Pertiwiningrum, noted that the LPER Cooperative holds a strategic role in supporting the national food security ecosystem, especially in the animal protein sector. According to her, the government is currently mandated to establish “Merah Putih” Village/Kelurahan Cooperatives (KDMP) across Indonesia as part of the National Strategic Program.
“The LPER Producers Cooperative, which already has a member base of broiler and layer chicken farmers, can act as a ‘big brother’ (mentor). LPER will back up the operations of farmers who will eventually join the KDMP at the village level,” said Prof. Ambar.
She explained that the KDMP will function as a business holding, a production offtaker, and a supplier. In practice, the KDMP will partner with Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in each region to ensure a steady supply of chicken meat and eggs to support the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program.
Prof. Ambar also highlighted the significant challenges in implementing the MBG program, particularly regarding distribution and the handling of fresh products. To address this, the government is encouraging the construction of supporting facilities such as warehouses, cold storage, and poultry slaughterhouses (RPA).
“It is impossible to store live chickens at a cooperative. Therefore, RPAs will be built as hubs at the sub-district or district levels, and their operations can be managed by the LPER Producers Cooperative,” she explained.
In line with this, the Ministry of Cooperatives is inviting the poultry farming community within cooperatives to ensure that the availability of chicken meat and eggs remains secure for both the general public and the MBG Program. The synergy between LPER and KDMP is expected to maintain a balance between supply and demand, thereby controlling inflation for animal protein products.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the LPER Producers Cooperative, Mulyadi Atma, appreciated the support from various parties toward strengthening cooperatives and smallholder farmers. He mentioned that representatives from four ministries attended the RAT, alongside the Revolving Fund Management Agency (LPDB), the Government Investment Center (PIP), and Jamkrida (Credit Guarantee Agency) ranks, all ready to support cooperative and farmer financing.
“We currently have around 4,600 members spread across 17 provinces. We are building an integrated ecosystem from upstream to downstream—ranging from production and guarantees to financing. Government support is vital to ensure that egg and chicken meat prices remain stable,” said Mulyadi.
He added that working capital support from the Ministry of Finance’s PIP, the Cooperative LPDB, and guarantee institutions will strengthen the capacity of smallholder farmers to bolster national programs while curbing potential price volatility, especially ahead of Ramadan.
