POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta — Perum Bulog has reaffirmed its commitment to distributing 500,000 tons of corn under the Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program throughout 2026. This initiative aims to maintain corn supply availability and stabilize prices for farmers, particularly for animal feed requirements.
Bulog’s President Director, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, announced the target while leading a National Working Meeting (Rakernas) to evaluate 2025 performance and plan for 2026 in Jakarta on Sunday (Jan 11, 2026).
Beyond SPHP distribution, Bulog is also targeting the domestic absorption of 1 million tons of corn to strengthen the country’s strategic food reserves. “Our other target is to achieve the absorption of 1 million tons of corn. We will collaborate with the Indonesian National Police (Polri) regarding this corn absorption,” he stated.
The synergy with Polri is being strengthened to streamline the realization of this goal. This step follows the President’s directive for the police to play an active role in corn planting programs. The involvement of the police force in the SPHP program is expected to accelerate the absorption of corn from local farmers, help resolve distribution bottlenecks, and ensure the security and flow of the supply chain.
“Through this Rakernas, all Bulog ranks from the central to regional levels are expected to strengthen coordination so that every target of this state-owned food enterprise can be maximized,” said Rizal.
The meeting was also described as a follow-up to directives from the President and the Head of the National Food Agency regarding the reinforcement of an efficient national food system that supports farmers.
According to Bulog’s records, the realization of corn SPHP distribution in 2025 reached over 51,211 tons out of a total target of 52,400 tons. Distribution began in September 2025 through government-appointed cooperatives and livestock associations. The corn was successfully distributed to 2,109 independent layer chicken farmers at a price of Rp5,500 per kilogram.
The corn feed SPHP program is considered a vital instrument for lowering the prices of commodities such as eggs and poultry, while supporting domestic food price stability throughout 2026. Through collaborative strategies and more mature planning, Rizal expressed optimism in supporting the continuation of food self-sufficiency in 2026, in line with the President’s directives.
