POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta – The Ministry of Agriculture has confirmed that the availability of purebred chickens (broilers) at the farm level is secure. The government emphasized that the primary issue requiring immediate attention is not production, but rather the distribution chain from farmers to the markets.
This statement was delivered by the Director of Livestock Breeding and Production at the Ministry of Agriculture, Hary Suhada, during a coordination meeting held with poultry industry players on Friday (Feb 13, 2026). The meeting was attended by small-scale farmers, broiler cultivation companies, integrators, and various industry associations.
“Disruptions in distribution have the potential to disadvantage both parties: farmers and consumers. We continue to coordinate with regional offices to ensure that trading systems run smoothly and that no gaps are exploited by certain parties,” Hary stated.
Production Remains Stable
From the perspective of business players, farm-level production has not seen a decline. Muchlis, Secretary General of PINSAR (National Association of Poultry Farmers), asserted that price hikes at the consumer level—which have exceeded reference prices—are not caused by stock shortages. Instead, indications of slowing product flow to the market are identified as the root cause that must be addressed collectively.
Herry Dermawan, Chairman of the National Association of Poultry Farmers (GOPAN), echoed this sentiment, warning that inaccurate information regarding stock shortages could trigger consumer panic, even though farm supplies remain ample.
Upstream Support and Logistical Readiness
Confirmation of steady supply also came from the upstream sector:
-
Wismarianto (Chairman of Commercial Poultry Farmers): Confirmed that Day-Old Chick (DOC) supplies are stable, ensuring future production cycles remain uninterrupted.
-
Ahmad Dawami (Chairman of the Association of Poultry Breeding Companies/GPPU): Ensured that production is ready for market absorption, leaving no room for “bad actors” to manipulate the supply.
-
Sigit Prabowo (Representative of integrator PT Taat Indah Bersinar): Stated that their fleet is ready to move if demand from Sukabumi increases, provided technical coordination is streamlined for efficiency.
