POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta – A Feed is one of the most important components which determines the production efficiency of production. To achieve this efficiency, the US Soybean Export Council (USSEC) took the initiative to hold a technical webinar with the title ‘Virtual Be-spoken for Self-Mixing Layer Farmers’ through Zoom, on Monday (10/8).

This webinar aimed to deliver knowledge to layer farmers about how to achieve production input for layer chicken with feed price 4.500 IDR/kg, especially for layer farmers in Borneo. Ibnu Edy Wiyono as moderator of this seminar said that there are several challenges to attain 4500 IDR/kg production cost for feed, one of the obstacles is the price of feed ingredients which fluctuates according to market conditions.

Based on the USSEC data of main feed ingredients price, it shows that the price of maize has risen, however it has fallen after harvest season. Likewise, the price of soybean meal and Full-Fat Soybean (FFS) increased significantly from April and May, but they starting to fall at the moment. Therefore, Ibnu considered that controlling from internal factors such as choosing a superior quality and nutritious feed ingredients will support to achieve these production costs.

Budi Tangendjaja as Feed Technical Consultant which also become a speaker of this seminar said that for layer production target must be bigger and layer farm should transform to self-mixing for their feed to reduce production costs. In order to have competitiveness, poultry farmers must pay attention to various things, such as the cost of feed, labour, good business condition, vertical integrations, and the application of sophisticated technology in the farm.

“The technology for layers in this world has developed and for layer farmers must up to date and apply current technology because layer genetically improves every year and created to be more efficient in producing eggs,” he explained. Esti
