POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta – The Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, has prepared several strategic measures in the agriculture and livestock sectors ahead of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah and Eid al-Fitr 2026. One of the primary focuses highlighted by Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman is the acceleration of poultry downstreaming and the empowerment of farmers and national food SMEs.
During a Working Meeting and Hearing with Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Tuesday (Feb 3), Amran mentioned that the government is preparing the construction of 30 poultry industry units to be funded through the Danantara funding scheme. This program is aimed at strengthening the structure of the national poultry industry while simultaneously increasing value-added processing on the downstream side.
In addition to downstreaming, the government is encouraging the strengthening of farmers and small business actors (SMEs) through support from the State Budget (APBN) and People’s Business Credit (KUR) financing. These steps are considered vital to maintaining the sustainability of livestock businesses, especially amidst market dynamics and fluctuating demand.
“We are also strengthening production security during the rainy season and peak harvest, distributing supplies from surplus areas to deficit areas, monitoring daily prices through an early warning system, coordinating intensively with business actors and food-related state/regional-owned enterprises (BUMN/BUMD), as well as conducting market operations and joint monitoring with the Food Task Force (Satgas Pangan),” he stated.
Regarding the supply situation, Amran reported that the availability of national strategic food commodities, including chicken meat and eggs, remains sufficient through Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
“With adequate supply levels and the security measures we continue to implement, we are optimistic that the availability and price stability of strategic food during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah can be well-maintained, while still protecting our national farmers and poultry producers,” he emphasized.
