POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta — The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) held a fundraising event to support victims of floods and landslides that struck several regions in Sumatra. The event, titled “Kementan Cares for the Aceh–Sumatra Flood Disaster”, took place at the F Building Hall in Jakarta on Tuesday (December 2). It was attended by ministry officials, employees, business stakeholders, and State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) who have long served as strategic partners in the agricultural sector.
Minister of Agriculture, Amran Sulaiman, called on all members of the Ministry of Agriculture to demonstrate care and national solidarity. He urged all 51,000 ministry employees across Indonesia to donate sincerely for the sake of God—not for the Minister, nor for the Directors General. “Any contribution, no matter how small, means a great deal to our brothers and sisters who are facing severe hardship,” he said.
As of 10:30 a.m. WIB, total donations collected reached approximately Rp75 billion, sourced from contributions by ministry employees, business actors, associations, and BUMN who voluntarily offered support.
Amran emphasized that transparency and the distribution of aid would be carried out swiftly, accurately, and in coordination with various government bodies and humanitarian organizations. He also stressed that disaster situations serve as a moment to strengthen unity.
“We must be present for the people. Today is not just about material assistance, but about humanity and moral responsibility. The Ministry stands at the forefront, and I thank all parties who have shown compassion and concern,” Amran concluded.
Among the many partners who participated, support also came from stakeholders in the livestock and animal health subsector. Those contributing included PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia (Rp4.1 billion), PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia (Rp3 billion), PT Sulung Ranch (Rp2.5 billion), PT Mitra Berlian Unggas (Rp1 billion), and PT Suri Nusantara Jaya (Rp1 billion). All funds will soon be distributed for emergency needs, logistics, and initial recovery efforts.
Director General of Livestock and Animal Health (Dirjen PKH), Agung Suganda, expressed deep appreciation to employees within the Directorate General as well as livestock industry partners for their contributions.
“We thank all employees and livestock business actors who have donated. This is a real expression of our concern to help ease the burden of our brothers and sisters affected by the floods,” he said after accompanying Minister Amran.
Agung added that synergy between the government and the business sector is crucial, especially in times of disaster. He ensured that coordination continues so that aid can quickly reach the most affected regions across the three provinces
