POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta – Few months ahead of the religious holiday, which led Fitr 1441 Hijriah in May 2020, the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) through Directorate General Animal Husbandry and Animal Health (Ditjen PKH) assured that poultry meat and eggs stocks in sufficient condition. This was stated Director of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health through a written release, Friday, 6 March 2020.
According to him, based on the Staple Product Consumption Survey (VKBP) in 2017 and Social Economy Survey (Susenas) in 2019 which conducted BPS RI, commercial poultry meat consumption reached 12,79 kg/capita/year. Broiler chicken meat demand until May 2020 predicted approximately 1.721.609 ton. “Until May 2020, it is predicted that there will be surplus in commercial chicken meat around 270.894 ton or about 54.179 ton/month,” He said.

Regarding layer eggs, Ketut Diarmita explained that based on VKBP result in 2017 and Susenas in 2019, egg consumption in Indonesia reached 18,16 kg/capita/year. Demand of layer eggs until May 2020 estimated at about 2.059.735 tons, whereas according to layer production potency until May 2020, it is estimated about 2.084.641 tons. “It means that we have surplus 24.906 ton or 4.981 ton/month.”
Ketut hopes that with production surplus of food products from livestock, for instance, poultry products could become a source of foreign exchange through export or processed into new products to add its selling value. “With those productions and consumption products I believe that until May 2020, poultry product stock will fulfill our society demand.” PI
