POULTRYINDONESIA, Purwokerto – Professor Akhmad Sodiq has once again been entrusted to lead Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed) after being elected rector for the 2026–2030 term. He emerged victorious in an election held during a closed senate session, defeating two other candidates.

The election process took place at the Integrated Laboratory Auditorium of the Unsoed Faculty of Economics and Business, involving members of the Academic Senate and representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.

The Chairman of the Unsoed Rector Election Committee, Prof. Dwi Nugroho Wibowo, explained that in this contest, Prof. Akhmad Sodiq competed against two other candidates: Prof. Ali Rokhman and Dr. Adi Indrayanto.

“Based on the tally, Prof. Ali Rokhman received 35 votes, while Prof. Akhmad Sodiq secured 87 votes,” Dwi stated in a press release on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

Dwi ensured that all stages of the election were conducted according to the applicable regulations. According to him, the entire rector election process was carried out transparently, objectively, and in accordance with established provisions.

“We appreciate the active participation of all parties involved in making this series of activities a success,” he explained.

He further explained that before reaching the election stage, the committee had carried out various processes starting from the screening of prospective candidates and administrative selection to the presentation of the candidates’ vision and mission.

“All stages, from registration to voting, were carried out according to the mechanism. This election stage is the most crucial part of the entire process,” he clarified.

The Head of Media and Publication for the Central Board of the Unsoed Faculty of Animal Science Alumni Association (PP Kafapet Unsoed), Farid Dimyati, added that Prof. Sodiq is an alumnus of the Faculty of Animal Science (Fapet) with extensive bureaucratic experience.

Prior to serving as the rector of Unsoed for the 2022–2026 period, he also served as the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science for two terms, followed by a tenure as Unsoed’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, and was the first rector of the Nahdlatul Ulama University of Purwokerto.

“So, regarding bureaucratic management, Prof. Sodiq’s experience and track record are beyond doubt,” Farid remarked.

According to Farid, despite his busy schedule, Prof. Sodiq is noted as an alumnus who frequently attends various alumni activities in Purwokerto, Jakarta, and other regions.

“One of his strengths is his dedication to maintaining relationships (silaturahmi). Despite being busy, he always attends alumni events. We are proud that he has been re-elected as the rector of Unsoed. We hope he can lead Unsoed to become more advanced and globally recognized in the future,” he concluded.
