Traditional quail farm in Indonesia
POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta – Quails farm still become a promising business to be developed in Indonesia because of the high demand of quail egg, especially in West Java, Banten, and Jakarta. However, supplies of this product still far behind its demand.
“From 16,5 million eggs demand per week, quail farmers only can produce around 3,5 million eggs per month,” Said Slamet Wuryadi as a Chief of Indonesian Quail Farmers Association on the Livestock Virtual Forum Series 1 which held by PT Napindo Media Ashatama and Indonesian Animal Husbandry Development Foundation (YAPPI), on Zoom, Monday (31/8).
In this webinar with the theme “Indo Livestock Award Winner Experiences and COVID-19 Pandemic as a Momentum for Improving Livestock in Indonesia” Slamet explained that quail farms in Indonesia also contributes an immense economic value.

“If we calculate, it will worth 3 billion rupiahs per day and 2,1 billion rupiahs for production input, and the rest of 900 million rupiahs are incomes for all quail farmer in Indonesia.”
Still according to Slamet Wuryadi, currently there are 1.300 quail farmers spread throughout Indonesia. Therefore, the average daily incomes of quail farmers in Indonesia are about 400-500 thousand rupiahs.
“Quail will continually produce eggs for 1,5 years. So that raising quail might become a solution to eradicate poverty because it can provide daily income to the farmers,” He said. Farid
