Building a young generation ready to create positive change in the world of agribusiness has become a key focus of PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia Tbk (CPI). Through the Charoen Pokphand Best Student Appreciation (CPBSA) program, now entering its 6th batch, CPI provides not only financial support but also academic, practical, and even international experience. This year, CPBSA offers a more comprehensive series of activities under the theme “Shaping Future Young Leaders Ready to Bring Positive Change to the World of Agribusiness.”
CPBSA Batch 6 began in May–June 2025 with online registration. The enthusiasm from students across various universities in Indonesia was immediately apparent. They then went through a rigorous selection process, including psychological tests, interviews, and a Leadership Group Discussion (LGD) held on 18–26 June 2025. Only the best candidates successfully advanced.
The selected participants were announced at the end of June 2025. The CPBSA selection assessed not only academic ability but also leadership, communication skills, and a strong passion for learning. From this process, 21 students from 15 universities across Indonesia were chosen.
The participants attended a Workshop and Briefing session in Jakarta on 14 July 2025. This event marked the initial phase of character building and knowledge development before they were deployed directly into the field. From 15 July to 2 September 2025, the selected students joined various business units of Charoen Pokphand Indonesia across different regions. Over nearly two months, they learned firsthand about modern poultry industry management, from breeding and feed production to animal health and distribution chains.
Gathering Event: Inspiration and Appreciation
The culmination of the program took place on 4 September 2025 during the CPBSA Batch 6 Gathering Event in Jakarta. Carrying the main theme “Shaping Future Young Leaders Ready to Bring Positive Change to the World of Agribusiness,” the event served as a moment of reflection, inspiration, and recognition.
In his remarks, Dr. (HC) Tjiu Thomas Effendy, S.E., MBA, President Director of CPI, delivered a powerful message to the students:
“Reaching this stage was not easy. You have gone through a long selection process and are now part of the CPBSA family. We hope you do not simply become spectators in your own country, but become drivers of change in your respective regions,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ir. Dwi Larso, MSIE, PhD, Director of Scholarships at the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP), Ministry of Finance, delivered the keynote speech. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among higher education, government, and industry.
“The CPBSA scholarship proves how the business sector can become a partner in education. Students who participate receive more than just financial support—they gain experience, insights, and invaluable networks,” he stated.
The gathering also featured presentations from CPBSA Batch 6 participants, who shared their internship experiences—stories of field challenges, innovative ideas, and personal reflections throughout the program. The event concluded with the awarding of plaques and certificates to partner universities and outstanding students, symbolizing appreciation and motivation for continued growth.
Poultry Excursion to China
Following the gathering, CPBSA Batch 6 continued with its most anticipated agenda: the Poultry Excursion to China on 5–12 September 2025. This journey allowed students to learn directly from one of the world’s poultry hubs while also experiencing China’s rich cultural heritage.
Day 1 began with a visit to the magnificent Summer Palace, once the imperial family’s retreat. Participants also explored the Forbidden City, the world’s largest palace complex, now a museum of history and culture. In the evening, Beijing came alive as they strolled through Wangfujing Street, a famous culinary and shopping district.
Day 2 was filled with adventure as the group climbed the Great Wall at Juyongguan, one of its most iconic and grand sections. They then visited Bao Shu Tang, a center for traditional Chinese medicine, and ended the day with a captivating acrobatic show, along with a view of the elegant Bird’s Nest National Stadium, a symbol of the 2008 Olympics.
Day 3 featured an important visit to Beijing CP Egg Industry Pinggu, one of China’s modern poultry production centers. There, participants learned about large-scale egg production management, housing technology, and distribution systems. The group then headed to Shilinxia Scenic Area, known for its adrenaline-pumping UFO Glass Bridge and breathtaking scenery.
Day 4 included a visit to China Agricultural University, a leading institution in agricultural and animal science research. Discussions with local academics broadened students’ perspectives on global livestock science. From Beijing, they traveled to Nanjing via bullet train, experiencing China’s high-speed transportation firsthand.
In Nanjing, Day 5 was marked by a visit to VIV Select China 2025, a major international exhibition showcasing innovations in the global livestock industry. Participants observed the latest trends in feed technology, animal health, and modern supply chains. They also explored the lively and colorful Fuzzimao Nanjing Shopping Street.
Day 6 concluded with culturally rich visits to the historic Jingjue Mosque and the serene Nanjing Lover Garden, a beautiful park favored by tourists.
The CPBSA Batch 6 journey wrapped up as the group returned to Jakarta on 13 September 2025. From registration to international travel, CPBSA has proven itself to be a comprehensive program that nurtures high-quality young talent.
“When it comes to human resources, CPI does not wait—we take initiative. We aim to improve the quality of livestock industry professionals so they are ready to face global challenges.”
With CPI’s consistency in organizing the Charoen Pokphand Best Student Appreciation program, it is hoped that Indonesia’s poultry industry will continue to strengthen, supported by a young generation ready to become future leaders—both at home and on the international stage.
