POULTRY INDONESIA, North Gorontalo – The North Gorontalo Regional Government marked a historic milestone after being selected as a groundbreaking site for the national integrated poultry downstreaming program.
In his remarks, the Regent of North Gorontalo, Thariq Modanggu, described the moment as the result of long-term hard work in establishing a competitive livestock industry structure.
“I hope this initiative will trigger regional economic expansion, create job opportunities, and improve the standard of living for our citizens, especially local farmers. My thanks go to the central government, the provincial government, and all stakeholders who contributed to the success of this program,” said Thariq.
The Minister of Agriculture personally designated Gorontalo as one of the initial implementation sites, according to Hendra Wibawa, Director of Animal Health at the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health Services. The selection is considered an honor, given that the region’s characteristics are highly conducive to the development of an integrated livestock sector.
“Geographical factors and land availability in North Gorontalo were our primary considerations. This program is projected to strengthen the national food production system while supporting food security and sovereignty,” Hendra explained.
Furthermore, Idah Syahidah Rusli Habibie, as the Vice Governor of Gorontalo; Dwi Sutoro, Commercial Director of ID FOOD; and Hendra Wibawa performed the groundbreaking ceremony on Friday (Feb 6, 2026). The event took place in Tolongio Village, Anggrek District, North Gorontalo Regency, attended by regional officials and poultry industry players.
Danantara Indonesia, through PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia (Persero) or ID FOOD, initiated this national strategic program. Gorontalo is one of the provinces implementing the first phase of a modern poultry industrial zone that integrates the entire production chain.
Five hectares of land in Tolongio Village served as the groundbreaking site for a feed mill’s construction. Danantara is currently conducting a Feasibility Study through the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to determine further development.
The government has designed the integrated poultry downstreaming area across various locations in North Gorontalo. Motilhelumo Village in East Sumalata District has allocated three hectares, Putiana Village in Anggrek District provided 2.5 hectares, and Dambalo Village in Tomilito District secured the largest area with 10 hectares.
Each location plays a specific role within the integrated ecosystem. The government plans for Motilhelumo Village to serve as a pullet zone, Dambalo Village to develop PS (Parent Stock) layers, while Putiana Village will house a Poultry Slaughterhouse (RPHU) equipped with cold storage facilities. All areas are designed to operate within a single, unified poultry production system.
