POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta – U.S Soybean Export Council (USSEC) held a webinar with the title ‘Broiler Nutrition and Feed Technology’ virtually on Wednesday and Thursday (3-4/6). Prof. Budi Tangendjaja as moderator said that this seminar should be held physically; unfortunately, they have to change the plan because of COVID-19 Pandemic.
On the day one and also the first session, Dr. Alex Corzo as senior Poultry Nutritionist Aviagen on his presentation about ‘Establishing the Nutrient Requirements of Broilers and Broiler Breeders’ said that nutrition is used to maintain healthiness and performance in chicken. Alex added that there are several nutrition components which play an important role in growth and egg production, such as energy and amino acid. “Energy is an important component and plays a role to improve body mass and egg production. However, it should not be given too much.”

The next presentation was given by Ruben Kriseldi as Ph.D candidate from Departement of Poultry Science of Auburn University about ’Low Protein Diet in Broiler Production’. Ruben said that nowadays, our environment already polluted by ammonia from poultry farm. Reducing the amount of crude protein will not only decrease ammonia emission but also pododermatitis and Colostridium pefringens colonization in chicken. “Low crude protein level will reduce water intake, therefore it will reduce humidity in the litter so that the incidence of pododermatitis can be suppressed.” Esti
