POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta – After several months facing price tension, now independent poultry farmers gradually can relish decent live bird prices in the farm gate. Moreover, in some areas, they could sell their live bird according to the government’s farm gate reference prices, about Rp19.000-21.000 per kilo.
Based on instruction from Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) as Minister of Agriculture, the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) did at least two steps of serious intervention in the field, such as intensive observation of availability and absorption of a live bird on the farm. According to MoA observation on 14th May 2020, the highest live bird price happened in Yogyakarta with an average price Rp22.222 followed with Central Java Rp20.941 per kilo.

Director General of Livestock and Animal Health (Ditjen PKH), I Ketut Diarmita continually does the intervention solemnly in order to avoid price fluctuation due to live bird stock. “In many production centers, live bird price is in good condition and farmers give a positive response to MoA action,” he said in Jakarta, Friday (15/5).
Chief of PINSAR Indonesia Central Java religion, Pardjuni said that the improvement of broiler price is because of a balance in the supply-demand of the live bird itself. Furthermore, the 21st Ramadan Night near Eid Al-Fitr also increases the needs of society. He predicted that societies’ consumption will increase, even though not significantly because of COVID-19 pandemic that still occurs. “Now live bird price rise to Rp21.000/kg, whereas before it only reached Rp14.000-15.000.” Pardjuni urge that control of supply and DOC price maintained, therefore the price will continue to improve.
