POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta – The national poultry sector is beginning to show signs of improvement. After experiencing fluctuations, broiler chicken meat prices are now observed to be correcting and tending toward greater stability across various regions. The government has ensured that this condition is the result of strengthened supervision and improved coordination of strategic food distribution in the field.
Based on data from the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Price Panel, the price of broiler chicken meat as of March 1, 2026, stood at around Rp40,767/kg, following a decline of approximately 1.27 percent from the February 23, 2026 price of around Rp41,293/kg. This movement reflects that market dynamics, particularly on the supply side, are becoming more controlled.
Minister of Agriculture and Head of Bapanas, Andi Amran Sulaiman, emphasized that price stabilization cannot be separated from the intensive monitoring carried out by the Food Violation Eradication Task Force (Satgas Saber) and cross-ministerial/institutional synergy. “Alhamdulillah, chicken meat prices are showing a downward trend thanks to cooperation on the supply side and distribution oversight. We will ensure that price and supply stability are maintained, and no business actors are allowed to manipulate food prices,” he stated on Sunday (March 1).
Amran explained that this downward trend indicates an improving balance between supply and demand. The government aims to keep prices within the Government Reference Price (HAP) range so that consumers can obtain fair prices without compromising the sustainability of farmers’ businesses.
“In most regions such as East Java, West Kalimantan, Gorontalo, Central Java, and Banten, prices range from Rp38,000 to Rp40,000 per kilogram, which is in line with the HAP. In Riau and West Sulawesi, prices are even recorded below the HAP, around Rp33,000–Rp35,000 and Rp37,500 per kilogram,” he added.
Overall, broiler chicken meat prices remain relatively stable. No significant spikes have been found, and supply is observed to be sufficient at both traditional wet markets and modern retail outlets. With the emerging price correction trend, the government is optimistic that the broiler sector will move in a stable rhythm. As long as food inflation remains under control, the public can access fair prices while farmers earn reasonable margins.
