POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta – Corn distribution through the Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program continues to meet farmers’ needs. As of August 23, 2026, a total of 127.43 thousand tons of corn had been distributed to farmers across various regions.

According to a Perum BULOG report updated on August 24, 2026, SPHP Corn distribution had reached 28 provinces, involving 100 cooperatives and associations and benefiting 5,543 farmers.

The program is one of the follow-up measures to the directives of Minister of Agriculture and Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Andi Amran Sulaiman after hearing farmers’ concerns about production cost pressures at the Poultry Coordination Meeting held at the Veterinary Farma Center (BBVF) Pusvetma in Surabaya on August 11, 2026.

At the time, Amran called for the SPHP Corn program to continue as long as farmers still needed it through the end of the year.

“Increase and extend SPHP. That is BULOG’s responsibility, and it is my responsibility as well. BULOG must extend it for as long as possible. As long as farmers need it, provide it, period. Make it easy, no unnecessary formalities. We will continue BULOG’s SPHP program until the end of the year,” Amran stressed.

The policy is designed to balance the interests of corn farmers and livestock farmers as users of feed raw materials. At the upstream level, the government has set the Government Purchase Price (HPP) for corn to maintain the price received by farmers. For dry shelled corn with a moisture content of 18–20 percent at the farmer level, the HPP is set at Rp5,500 per kilogram.

Corn procured by the government is subsequently managed by BULOG as part of the Government Corn Reserve (CJP) and prepared for distribution according to established quality standards.

Meanwhile, at the farmer level, the SPHP Feed Corn program provides access at Rp5,000 per kilogram for purchases at BULOG warehouses and a maximum of Rp5,500 per kilogram when delivered to farmers.

Director of Feed at the Ministry of Agriculture, Tri Melasari, said the government continues to monitor farmers’ needs and distribution realization to ensure that available corn actually reaches the intended recipients.

“What we are safeguarding is not only the availability of feed corn, but also ensuring that supplies reach farmers who need them at affordable prices, without compromising price balance at the farmer level,” Tri said in Jakarta on Tuesday (August 25, 2026).

According to Tri, monitoring farmers’ needs, distribution realization, production, stocks, and corn price developments is necessary to determine appropriate interventions based on conditions in the field.

BULOG data shows that the SPHP Corn allocation listed on its dashboard stands at 213.20 thousand tons. Of this amount, 127.43 thousand tons had been distributed as of August 23, 2026, leaving approximately 85.77 thousand tons.

Meanwhile, the government is preparing an option to increase supplies. Bapanas has proposed an additional quota of 150,000 tons of SPHP Feed Corn to the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs for discussion at a Limited Coordination Meeting (Rakortas).

The proposal is still awaiting discussion and a decision at the Rakortas before it can be finalized and implemented.

For the poultry sector, the continuation of SPHP is one of the instruments available to help reduce feed costs when corn prices in the market come under pressure. However, its effectiveness will still depend on accurate targeting and smooth distribution all the way to farmers.

The Ministry of Agriculture, together with Bapanas, BULOG, local governments, cooperatives, and farmer associations, will continue to monitor the program’s implementation, including recipient needs and distribution realization in the field.
