POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta – One week ahead of the 2026 Nusantara Livestock and Poultry Expo (NLP) and Indonesia Agriculture Technology Expo (IGT), Debindo held a press conference at the Indonesian Farmers Harmony Association (HKTI) Building at the Ministry of Agriculture in Jakarta on Tuesday (October 27, 2026).
The NLP-IGT Expo 2026, themed “Shaping a Resilient Food Estate for Indonesia,” is scheduled to take place on November 4–7, 2026, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang. The exhibition is expected to serve as a platform for livestock and agricultural industry players to expand collaboration.
During the press conference, Debindo Director Rafidi Iqra Muhamad explained that the NLP-IGT Expo 2026 had been planned and developed based on evaluations of the previous year’s exhibition. One of the targets is to increase exhibitor participation. Last year, NLP attracted more than 70 exhibitors, while this year’s event is expected to welcome over 100.
“In addition to increasing the number of exhibitors, we are also seeing greater diversity among participating companies and organizations. The exhibition area has not increased significantly, but this year we are focusing more on the visitor experience. We are collaborating with Nusa Farm to create a miniature cattle farm that illustrates the entire production chain, from upstream to downstream, allowing visitors to explore the concept of smart farming.”
From the poultry industry’s perspective, GPPU Deputy Chairman IV Asrokh Nawawi explained that Indonesia’s national production of commercial chicken meat and eggs remains concentrated on the islands of Java and Sumatra.
“Java accounts for 63.08% of national commercial chicken meat production, while Sumatra contributes 20.12%. For commercial egg production, Java accounts for 62.91%, while Sumatra contributes 22.85%,” he said.
He also outlined several challenges facing the poultry industry, including feed efficiency, the availability of breeding stock, production performance, productivity, price fluctuations, and dependence on imported products.
“Given the many challenges facing the industry, I hope the NLP-IGT Expo 2026 will help bring industry players together, fostering greater collaboration and the exchange of information on technological developments.”
Meanwhile, Cecep Wahyudi, Deputy Chairman of the National Executive Board of HKTI for Livestock Affairs, highlighted the importance of building a food ecosystem that connects producers with consumers more effectively.
“On one hand, livestock farmers complain that their products are difficult to sell in the market. On the other, SPPGs are struggling to secure egg supplies. This has led us to conclude that, beyond addressing oversupply, what we need to improve more urgently is the supply chain, particularly the cold chain,” Cecep explained.
Cecep noted that several food poisoning incidents involving recipients of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program had largely been associated with animal protein foods. In his view, the issue cannot be resolved simply by increasing production. A system is needed to connect output with consumer demand while maintaining product quality.
“There are currently around 27,800 SPPGs, each purchasing various supplies every day. This represents a major opportunity to build a food ecosystem capable of meeting quality and food safety standards while maintaining reserve supplies.”
With an increasing number of stakeholders participating in the NLP Expo 2026, the exhibition is expected to provide a platform for industry players to work together to address the various challenges facing the livestock sector.
