POULTRYINDONESIA, Sri Lanka – Efforts to improve breeder productivity and hatchery efficiency continue to be a major focus of the global poultry industry. To support this objective, Pussalla Meat Producers and Aviagen held a technical seminar for Sri Lankan poultry producers, focusing on optimizing Ross 308 breeder performance and increasing the production of high-quality day-old chicks (DOC).
The event, held in Bangkok, Thailand, on May 14–17, 2026, was attended by around 30 Pussalla customers from various regions of Sri Lanka. As a distributor of Ross parent stock in Sri Lanka, Pussalla regularly provides technical support to customers to help improve their productivity and business profitability.
During the seminar, the Aviagen Asia team, led by President of Aviagen Asia Antonin Bonneau and Commercial Manager of Aviagen Asia Yash Jaiswal, shared the latest management strategies to maximize the genetic potential of Ross 308 throughout the production period.
The presentations focused on three key aspects critical to successful DOC production: male management to maintain fertility, female breeder development to sustain egg production persistency, and the implementation of nutrition programs capable of improving hatchability and reproductive performance.
According to Yash Jaiswal, the success of producing high-quality DOC in optimal quantities depends not only on genetic factors but also on the implementation of proper management practices in the field.
“By combining genetic advantages with best husbandry practices, producers can improve flock persistency, fertility, and egg hatchability. Ultimately, this will provide greater economic value for every breeder flock,” he said.
He also appreciated Pussalla’s commitment to consistently investing in customer capacity development through various educational activities and technical support programs.
Meanwhile, Managing Director of Pussalla Meat Producers, Dilshan Wewita, stated that the close collaboration between Pussalla and Aviagen is one of the important factors supporting the growth of Sri Lanka’s poultry industry. According to him, customers not only gain access to superior Ross genetics but also receive technical support tailored to local conditions.
“Activities like this provide opportunities for industry players to share experiences, discuss various challenges in the field, and find solutions that can help improve production performance sustainably,” he explained.
Pussalla’s development itself aligns with the growth of Sri Lanka’s poultry industry over recent decades. Starting from a single poultry house in the 1980s, the company has now expanded into an integrated poultry business covering the entire value chain from farm to fork and has established its own grandparent stock facilities.
Currently, Pussalla supplies Ross parent stock to various poultry companies in Sri Lanka while continuing to strengthen technical services and customer support. Through this seminar, Pussalla and Aviagen once again reaffirmed their commitment to helping poultry producers improve breeder performance, optimize hatchery efficiency, and meet the growing demand for quality chicken meat in Sri Lanka.
With the support of superior genetics, proper management practices, and continuous knowledge transfer, Sri Lanka’s poultry industry is expected to produce high-quality DOC more efficiently and sustainably.PI
