POULTRYINDONESIA, South Tangerang – The Indonesian Poultry Breeding Companies Association (GPPU) officially launched its 55th Anniversary Commemorative Book during the 14th GPPU Congress at DoubleTree by Hilton Bintaro Jaya, South Tangerang. The publication marked a historic milestone, commemorating the organization’s more than five decades of contributions to the development of Indonesia’s poultry breeding industry.
Titled From Upstream to Food Security: GPPU’s 55-Year Journey in Building a Sustainable Indonesian Poultry Industry, the book was compiled as both a historical record and a reference documenting the evolution of Indonesia’s poultry breeding sector. In addition to chronicling GPPU’s organizational journey, the publication covers government policy developments, advances in breeding technology, animal disease challenges, and key milestones that have shaped the nation’s poultry industry.
Dewa Putu Sumerta, who led the book’s compilation, revealed that the project took nearly one and a half years to complete. Throughout the process, the editorial team gathered historical documents, industry data, and input from various stakeholders to produce a comprehensive account of GPPU’s history.
“We worked on this book for almost one and a half years. It consists of 12 chapters and 112 pages, covering the history of the organization, regulations, and data that have been part of GPPU’s journey,” said Dewa Putu Sumerta during the launch ceremony.
He expressed his appreciation to all contributors and to the 19 sponsoring companies that supported the publication.
“We extend our gratitude to all the authors and sponsors who made this publication possible. Without the collaboration of everyone involved, this book could not have been published,” he said.
According to Dewa, the book is expected to serve not only as a historical archive of the organization but also as a valuable reference for industry stakeholders, academics, government institutions, and younger generations seeking to understand the development of Indonesia’s poultry breeding sector.
“We hope this book will serve as both a reflection and an inspiration for everyone in the poultry industry so that the sector continues to grow and contribute to national food security,” he said.
For its first edition, GPPU printed 1,150 copies, which will be distributed to the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health Services of the Ministry of Agriculture, seminar speakers, GPPU members, and various stakeholders attending the 14th GPPU Congress.
The book was officially launched through a symbolic countdown joined by congress participants, followed by the presentation of the first copy to the Director General of Livestock and Animal Health Services as a reflection of GPPU’s commitment to preserving the history of Indonesia’s poultry breeding industry.
In his remarks, Dewa Putu Sumerta also emphasized the importance of preserving history as the foundation for building the future. He quoted Indonesia’s first President, Soekarno, who famously reminded the nation never to forget its history.
“Never abandon history. This book is part of GPPU’s long journey, and we hope it will become a lasting source of knowledge for future generations,” he concluded.
