Featuring 550 Companies from 20 Countries and More Than 20,300 Trade Visitors from 113 Countries, VIV Select China 2026 Emerges as One of This Year’s Largest Livestock Industry Events
The global livestock industry is entering a major phase of transformation. Changes are taking place not only in increasing production capacity, but also in how the industry addresses challenges related to efficiency, digitalization, sustainability, and the world’s growing food demand.
The direction of this industry transformation was evident at VIV Select China 2026, held from August 19–21, 2026, at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center (SWEECC) in Shanghai, China. Organized by Globus Events and VNU Europe, the international exhibition served as a meeting platform for various livestock industry stakeholders, ranging from technology manufacturers, feed companies, animal health providers, and livestock equipment suppliers to academics and international buyers.
Under the theme “Connecting the Globe, Building a One-Stop Livestock Trade Platform,” VIV Select China 2026 was not only an exhibition for showcasing the latest products and technologies, but also a platform for strengthening business relationships and facilitating knowledge exchange between countries. Through its feed-to-food concept, the exhibition highlighted the interconnectedness of the entire livestock industry supply chain, from feed ingredients, nutrition, and animal health to production technologies and livestock product processing.
The event’s presence in Shanghai also reflected ambitions to strengthen the city’s position as a global center for livestock trade and innovation. With its robust international business infrastructure, Shanghai serves as a meeting point for Chinese companies and international markets.
VIV Select China 2026 Records Record Growth
The 2026 edition marked one of the largest events in VIV Select China’s history. The exhibition covered an area of 50,000 square meters, featuring 550 companies from 20 countries and regions, representing a 36.7% increase compared to the previous year.
Companies from countries including the Netherlands, the United States, Denmark, France, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Türkiye, South Korea, Malaysia, and India participated, showcasing their latest innovations across various fields, including digital aquaculture, low-carbon farming, biosecurity, and nutritional optimization.
In terms of attendance, VIV Select China 2026 also recorded significant growth. A total of 20,300 industry professionals from 113 countries and regions attended the exhibition, with international visitor numbers tripling compared to the previous year.
The increase in global participation demonstrates the livestock industry’s growing need for cross-border collaboration to address shared challenges, ranging from production efficiency to the development of improved food systems.
According to Jeroen van Hooff, President and CEO of Royal Dutch Jaarbeurs, on Wednesday (August 19), the development of the livestock industry requires increasingly strong collaboration among industry stakeholders.
“Our goal within the VIV Worldwide network is to connect Chinese businesses with international buyers and introduce China to the world. We are proud that, in its first edition in Shanghai, the exhibition has grown by more than 50%, and we are confident that next year will bring even greater participation,” Jeroen said.
Digital Technology Becomes the New Face of Future Livestock Farming
One of the most prominent highlights of VIV Select China 2026 was the growing adoption of digital technology in the livestock industry. Through its dedicated “V-AI + Smart Animal Husbandry” area, VIV Select China featured more than 15 global technology companies showcasing applications of artificial intelligence and smart farming systems.
The technologies on display included integrated big data platforms, smart feeding systems, livestock house environmental monitoring, and inspection robots. According to Caroline Hu, Marketing Manager at Globus Events Ltd., in an interview with the Poultry Indonesia team on Wednesday (August 19), technological developments are transforming the way the livestock industry makes decisions.
